Swamp Classic cancelled

Dear Parents,
Just minutes ago, I received an email from Ken Turner, Director of Bands at River Bluff High School, announcing that they have decided to cancel the contest this weekend. I’m sure they struggled with this decision, but in the best interest of the safety of the students, the decision was made to cancel.
This means that all band activities for Saturday are no longer happening. You have the entire weekend off to stay safe with your family. In addition, rehearsal today will also be cancelled.
Because of this, we are now in a challenging situation in regards to our BOA Performance. We should have already had two contest performances, but due to the cancellation of the Silver Invitational, and now the Swamp Classic, our first contest performance will be the prelims performance at the BOA Regional next weekend in Winston-Salem! I have no doubt that the students will rise to the challenge!
Next week we might still be dealing with rain for the first day or two. I have already said in my previous post that we will be rehearsing next Wednesday after school, in an effort to make up for lost rehearsal time the past two weeks. Wednesday is an early release day, so rehearsal will begin at 1 PM, and go until 4 PM. This will allow the kids to rehearse right after they get out of school, and still have the evening to attend church or other events.
I can’t thank you enough for being flexible with the weather situation!
So to recap, next week we will be rehearsing our normal M, T, TH schedule, from 4 -7 pm. We are also rehearsing Wednesday after early release from 1 – 4 pm.
Friday is our Homecoming football game!  We will be performing our show after the game.
Saturday we have an early report time of 4:30 AM. I know it is not the best scenario, but it is the situation we have been dealt.
It is now time for us to “band” together and rise to this challenge in true White Knoll fashion!!
Sincerely,
Mr. Barfield
