Despite travel snafus and a lack of sleep, White Knoll band performed admirably at 8:30am on Saturday 10/11, receiving 2nd place in the class 3A prelims and the honor of being one of 12 bands to perform in finals competition in the evening.
Rain and storms threatened, but finals did occur on schedule with only a brief pause to let the fireworks from the State Fair (across the street from BB&T field!) run their course.
After an amazing finals performance, White Knoll took 8th place out of the 12 finalist bands, amid stunning competition. There were no “bad” bands there that day, my friends, and no “good” bands even having a “bad” day. All the bands on the field were awesome.
Receiving a place among the finalists is a singular honor, but placing 8th even more so.
We are SO proud of our band, and so grateful to all of the staff, parents, and supporters that make these experiences possible. Deepest thanks to all of you who planned, drove, chaperoned, stayed up most of the night, went without hot showers, and who tugged and pushed and labored to get props loaded, unloaded, and on/off the field.
Go White Knoll!
