I want to take a brief moment to congratulate all of the students in the Marching Band for their two outstanding performances this past weekend at our first home football game, and also our first contest! On Saturday, the band performed at the Blue Machine Invitational at Edisto High School. They did a terrific job, and earned the following awards:
Most Outstanding Drum Majors, Class AAAA
Most Outstanding Percussion, Class AAAA
Most Outstanding Color Guard, Class AAAA
Most Outstanding Horn Line, Class AAAA
First Place, Class AAAA
First Place, Gold Division (Class AA, AAA, and AAAA)
Grand Champion!
I am very proud of the students for their accomplishments, but even more proud of the fact that they have worked so incredibly hard at all of our rehearsals this year! The results of their hard work and commitment is two great performances this past weekend. The awards are always nice, but the satisfaction of hard work paying off is the life lesson we all learned from our experiences so far!
I am also very proud of the parental support we had at the contest! It makes a big difference for the kids to see your faces and hear your applause! I know we have the best parent booster group in the state, and will continue to show up to all of our events with the best display of class and support for all of the bands in attendance. Way to go parents!!
The band will perform at our Family Fun Day event this Saturday at 4 PM. It is free and open to the public, so bring all of your friends and family out to watch the kids in action.
Our next contest is Saturday, October 4th at the Low Country Invitational at Wando High School. This will be a big contest, with a lot of great bands in attendance. I would love to see a huge booster group in the stands for our kids.
