Parents,
I want to thank everyone for his or her support of the White Knoll High School Band Program! We have seen a large increase in the number of parents that are involved in the booster program, volunteering their time, and showing up to performances. The enthusiasm of the booster organization is at an all time high, and I cannot thank you enough!
I wanted to bring to your attention our current financial situation. We are fortunate to have Melissa Comley in charge of our Ways and Means fundraising efforts. Melissa has done a fantastic job getting many new fund raising events organized and initiated this year. So far, all of the events have done very well, thanks to your efforts.
However, we are in a unique situation this year. We began the year with a financial deficit, so even though our fund raising events have done better than projected, we are just barely covering the expenses to operate the band program. In addition, we have an incredible opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in the spring, but this requires all of us to pay a deposit now in order to reserve our spot in the festival.
Where we are falling short is in the payment of student band fees. Currently, we are over $30,000 behind in the payment of band fees. These fees go towards the daily operation of the band program. Without those fees, we cannot do all of the wonderful events we are scheduled to do this fall, and the rest of the year. Currently, we are at a point where without these fees, we might not be able to attend one of our upcoming marching contests. Simply stated, without the fees, we cannot pay the costs to travel, stay overnight, and perform.
I am reaching out to everyone to encourage you to get the band fees turned in as soon as possible. If the band fees present a challenge to your budget, the band boosters can work out a payment plan to fit your needs. However, everyone is still responsible for the payment of the fees.
Thanks again for all of your support! I know that if we band together, we can realize all of our goals!
Sincerely,
Mr. Barfield
