August Special Events/Fundraisers

There are a lot of fun events and fundraisers going on in August to support the WKHS Band! Please see the information below and ask your students for more details. Thank you for helping us kick-off the new band season with success!

  • Mattress FundraiserSaturday, August 5 – 10 AM – 5 PM at WKHS – Students and parents can sign up on Charms. Tell all your family and friends who may be thinking about buying a mattress to come out and get in on all the great deals!
  • Red Bank Community Night – Saturday, August 5 – Brass, woodwinds and percussion students – We have been asked to perform at the Red Band Community Night in the Walmart Parking Lot on Hwy 6 near Platt Springs Road. Students will wear the new band polo, khaki shorts, white socks and white tennis shoes. If you have not paid for your new polo shirt, please turn in your money this week so the students will have it to wear Saturday. Students are to arrive dressed between 5:00 and 5:15 PM. We will walk in twos to Walmart to perform around 5:45 PM. We will walk back to WKHS and dismiss between 6:15 and 6:30 PM depending on the walk back.
  • Marco’s Pizza Spirit NightWednesday, August 9 – Plan on ordering a pizza to raise funds for the band! Ask your family and friends to do the same. Make sure everyone mentions the WKHS Band Flyer (included with the August newsletter) so we receive 20% donation from the sale.
  • Cookie Dough Call-A-ThonTuesday, August 15 during band rehearsal.
  • March-A-ThonSaturday, August 26 – 8 AM – 12 PM – Students will be in summer uniform (band will be the same as Community Night; color guard will be announced as we get closer). There is a mandatory $50.00 minimum contribution per student fundraiser. More information about the March-A-Thon will be coming out soon, such as neighborhoods we are marching in and times. We are requesting each student bring a donation for breakfast and snack. The break down by grade request is:
    • Middle Schoolers – granola bars or muffins
    • Freshmen – fruit
    • Sophomores – granola bars or muffins
    • Juniors – water or juice boxes
    • Seniors – just show up!
  • Patriot Yard – Subscriptions are ongoing. Deana Hage will be posting information on Facebook about the upcoming pick-up and return dates for the subscriptions for Labor Day through Patriot Day.
